appycodes.

The lighter cousin of internal tools. For the ops team drowning in manual steps.

Make.com, n8n, Zapier, and custom Node automations, chosen by volume, not by default. We teach the same stack we ship with. Plus we know when to skip no-code entirely.

A six-step scenario

  1. 01Form submission
  2. 02Lookup in Supabase
  3. 03Append to Google Sheet
  4. 04Slack #leads alert
  5. 05WhatsApp reminder · wa.me
  6. 06CRM record created

Make.com · 6 steps · around $5/mo at 1K runs

What you get

Seven engagement shapes.

01

Make.com / n8n / Zapier scenarios

Designed and implemented with proper error handling, retry logic, and dead-letter handling. Not happy-path-only.

02

Self-hosted n8n

On Forge / Render / Fly when workflows need to live in your infrastructure. Backups, monitoring, version-controlled scenarios.

03

Custom Node / Python workers

For high-volume or low-latency automation where no-code does not fit. Idempotent, observable, in version control.

04

AI-in-the-loop automation

Make / n8n scenarios that call OpenAI / Anthropic for summarisation, classification, drafting. Covered alongside the AI Chatbot page.

05

CRM / messaging integrations

HubSpot, Pipedrive, Intercom, Zendesk, Slack, WhatsApp Business, Telegram bots. Real auth, real webhook reliability.

06

WhatsApp click-to-send

via wa.me links when paid APIs are overkill. Same pattern we shipped on the CA compliance calendar, no API fees for low-volume reminders.

07

Migrations off Zapier

When costs scale past sense, to Make, n8n, or custom workers. Preserved scenario logic, no downtime.

The Automation Cost-vs-Volume Curve

Which automation tool actually costs you the least at your volume.

Operations per month against estimated monthly cost across four options. Each option wins at a different volume band, the right choice depends on where you are on the curve.

Volume band
Cheapest option
Under 1K ops / mo
Zapier free tier
Single scenario, save the budget.
1K to 10K ops / mo
Make.com◆ Sweet spot
Cheaper than Zapier, scales cleanly.
10K to 100K ops / mo
n8n (self-hosted)
Fixed infra cost, tiny per-op.
100K+ ops / mo
Custom Node worker
Variable cost near zero once infra is paid.

Approximate. Real cost depends on per-scenario complexity. The custom-worker line flattens because variable cost is near zero once the infrastructure is paid.

When no-code is right, and when it isn't

We draw the line. Buyers respect it.

Make.com is great until: (1) you cross 10K operations / month and the cost ladders past the break-even point with a custom Node worker, (2) you need transactional guarantees (atomic operations across multiple systems with rollback) that no-code tools cannot promise, (3) the workflow needs to live inside customer-facing latency budgets (sub-second response), or (4) compliance and audit require the orchestration logic to be in version control, not someone's no-code account.

We know where each line is. We have crossed them all, on real engagements. That is why the cost curve above is annotated honestly, and why we sometimes argue you out of an engagement we would happily bill for.

Evidence

We do not just sell automation. We run on it, and we teach it.

Teaching the stack we ship with

Live training for practising Chartered Accountants

Stack taught: Lovable, Supabase, Vercel, Cloudflare, Make.com, Google Sheets and GitHub. Real workflows demonstrated: form submission to email plus Sheet entry plus Slack / WhatsApp alert, new-client onboarding to document-checklist auto-sent, GST and tax deadline tracker with reminders.

Eating our own dog food, NEXIS

NEXIS School of Business internal automation

Enquiry intake, follow-up reminders, event RSVP, attendance tracking, on a mix of Make.com / n8n / Sheets / WhatsApp / email. We have also explored team hackathons where staff build their own “Automate a NEXIS Process” workflows. Evidence we run on automation, not just sell it.

Pairs well with

Good fit if

When automation is the next hire

  • Ops teams stuck doing 10+ manual steps between a form submission and a CRM record
  • Operators on Zapier whose monthly bill has crossed $500 and is climbing
  • Founders who tried Make and want a real engineer to clean it up, not rebuild it
  • Domains where compliance and audit require automation logic in version control

Probably not a fit

When no-code would genuinely do

  • Single-scenario use cases that fit Zapier's free tier, that is fine, save the budget
  • Teams who want a custom build when no-code would genuinely do
  • Mission-critical sub-second latency workflows, those need a custom service, not orchestration

Tools we use

Pick by volume and audit posture, not by default.

Messaging
Slack, WhatsApp (wa.me and Business API), Telegram, email (Resend / Postmark)
CRMs
HubSpot, Pipedrive, Intercom, Zendesk, Zoho, Salesforce
